You might think you'd have to spend a pretty penny to get the best olive oil on the market. But according to one cooking pro, you don't have to splurge-and you might even get to save!

Samin Nosrat, renowned chef and cooking teacher, says the best-tasting olive oil is sold right at Costco, reports the Huffington Post. Kirkland Signature Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, which you can buy at the wholesale retailer, is the best you can get for your money, Nosrat claims.

For $21.49, you can get a 2-liter bottle of the organic olive oil at Costco, and for just a dollar more, you can buy it on Amazon. The product "regularly scores well on independent administered quality analyses," Samin reportedly writes in her new book, Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat: Mastering the Elements of Good Cooking.

To find the perfect olive oil, Samin recommends using taste as the most important factor-not price. The best olive oil could be the cheapest one on the shelves. You should also look for oil made with 100 percent California or Italian olives. And just because a label says "Made in Italy" or "Packed in Italy" doesn't mean the olives are from there. Lastly, check the production date on the label, and remember that olive oil starts to go rancid about 12 months after being pressed.

The Kirkland olive oil passes all of Samin's tests, and then some. If you don't have a Costco membership, look online, or check out Seka Hills, Katz, and California Olive Ranch, which all made her list of runners-up.

Pick a great (and inexpensive) olive oil, and get cooking!
