Contractors removing trees within the Hume Lake Ranger District

SEQUOIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Contractors will be felling and removing trees within the Hume Lake Ranger District of the Sequoia National Forest/Giant Sequoia National Monument starting Wednesday.

National park officials say the trees are being removed to enhance visitor safety and safeguard infrastructure.

Officials say the project spans approximately 10.5 miles of the Generals Highway and will commence at the Redwood Mountain Overlook, progressing south and east to Forest Route 15S03 and the Sequoia National Park boundary. Operations will be conducted from Monday to Friday and may lead to traffic delays of up to 30 minutes.
