Contaminated raw milk sold in 12 Pennsylvania counties needs thrown out; Dept. of Ag.
(WHTM)– Check your fridge, the state Department of Agriculture (Dept. of Ag.) is warning about contaminated raw milk that was sold at different locations in a dozen of Pennsylvania counites, including six in the Midstate.
One person reportedly became ill after they consumed raw milk that was sold from Apple Valley Creamery, under the Pure Pastures Dairy, the Dept. of Ag. said in a news release. The sell-by dates of the milk that should be thrown out is from April 3, through Thursday, May 2.
Raw milk samples sold by Apple Valley Creamery were then tested by the Dept. of Ag. and results came back positive for the bacteria Campylobacter. The Dept. of Ag. says that bacteria can contaminate milk if a cow has an udder infection, from manure contamination during milking or storage, but the pasteurization of the milk effectively eliminates the bacteria.
