Construction on new Yolo County park to begin in April

(FOX40.COM) — Construction on a new park in Knights Landing will begin in April with a groundbreaking ceremony, the Office of the County Administrator for Yolo County said.

The ceremony for the Knights Landing Community Park, which is planned to span more than 7 acres, is scheduled for April 9 at 4:00 p.m.

Sacramento’s first cherry blossom park on track to open during summer 2024, officials say

The city said the new park will feature “new soccer field, a little league/softball field, a basketball court, a children’s playground, a walking/jogging path, a picnic and BBQ area, and more.”

The park will be located next to Sci-Tech Academy along Highway 113.

The county said that the Woodland Joint Unified School District dedicated the land, which had been “dormant” for over 20 years, to the project.

“The Knights Landing Community deserves a park that will bring everyone together, in particular youth and seniors,” Yolo County Supervisor Angel Barajas said. “Through collaborative efforts and perseverance, we have secured the necessary funding and planning to begin this transformational project. Yolo County residents deserve the best.”

According to the county funding for the park is approximately $6.5 million.
