Construction on Statesville police department, parking deck means loss of downtown parking

STATESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — There are fewer parking spaces in downtown Statesville with new construction coming to the area.

City construction crews are kicking off a major redevelopment project on East Front Street. It involves a bigger police department, new parking deck and park between South Center and South Trade streets.

Before the new structures go up, the these three buildings will soon be torn down:

  • 124 E. Front St.

  • 128 E. Front St. (formerly Price’s Auto)

  • 150 E. Front St. (formerly Parrish Tire)

Starting Wednesday, May 1, these properties will no longer be available for public parking. City leaders ask drivers to use the free lots on Cooper Street and East Sharpe Street instead.
