Construction of new Dauphin Co. roundabout begins

DERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) — Construction of a new roundabout in Derry Township has begun, and a road closure is anticipated in the coming weeks.

According to Derry Township Police Department, the construction of the new roundabout at the intersection of Homestead and Bachmanville Roads has officially started.

Travel in this area will remain open during construction, with occasional traffic control managed by flaggers at the site. Officials say that Bachmanville Road is expected to close on Monday, June 10, while Homestead Road will remain open.

This new roundabout project is the culmination of years of work with PennDOT in order to resolve safety issues at or near this intersection. This project will change the way that the intersection is controlled and will also reduce traffic speeds.

Derry Township Police say that at times this project will cause traffic delays, so motorists are advised to allow for extra time while traveling in this area.
