Construction will close drop-off area Thursday at Sioux Falls Regional Airport

Construction on a new skyway at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport will close the roadway in front of the terminal for much of Thursday, affecting how travelers can be picked up from and dropped off at the airport.

The construction will begin at 8 a.m. Thursday, concluding at about 6 p.m., according to a news release from the airport. The commercial lane's early closure will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The release said that drop-offs and pickups will still be possible "in a limited capacity," and traffic will be routed through the airport's parking garage, which is also under construction.

The skyway will eventually connect the parking garage, expected to be completed in October, to the second floor of the airport's main terminal.

The road closure had originally been set for Wednesday, but was delayed because of forecasts of strong winds, the release states.
