Construction begins for new Vallejo homeless navigation center

(KRON) — Construction crews will begin building a “central hub for the unhoused community” on Broadway Street in Vallejo this week.

The Vallejo Navigation Center is slated to open with 125 shelter beds in December at 1937 Broadway St. City officials said the center will provide a step forward for “tackling homelessness within our community.”

“The Nav Center represents a holistic approach, providing vital services and shelter to combat homelessness in Vallejo and Solano County,” city officials wrote. The center will provide clients with case management, social, and medical services, as well as job training.

The center will serve approximately 200 people annually. Construction for the project costs nearly $12 million, according to a report from the City Manager’s Office.

“The Vallejo Navigation Center has been a vision for our community for years, and to see it finally begin construction before my retirement is truly rewarding,” said City Manager Mike Malone. “This center represents a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to address homelessness.”
