Construction begins next week on Wichita’s first Love’s Travel Stop

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Construction is scheduled to begin next week on Wichita’s first Love’s Travel Stop.

The Oklahoma City-based company operates 644 locations in 42 states. They were founded in 1964.

The Wichita City Council voted back in May of 2023 to approve the rezoning of land near 21st Street N. and I-135 to allow the company to build at the site that was once part of a large oil refinery.

Business in Sterling will double in size, creating 251 jobs

Love’s is excited to join the Wichita community, serving customers with the clean spaces and friendly faces we are known for. Love’s chooses locations on highway corridors that are known to be highly trafficked by our customers and underserved by our current locations. This location off I-35 in Wichita will allow customers to get the services they need while traveling this stretch of the country and get back on the road quickly.”

Once complete, the 24-hour travel stop will include a 15,000-square-foot convenience store, an attached restaurant with a drive-thru, and shower facilities. In addition, it will have a semi-truck repair shop and truck wash, RV hookups for overnight parking, electric car charging stations, and a dog exercise area.

The store is expected to employ at least 50 people when it opens later this year.
