Connecticut gunfight in apartment kills one, critically injures three

A chaotic gunfight inside a Hartford, Conn. apartment on Saturday killed one person and critically injured three others, including a 17-year-old girl, police said.

Authorities actively searched Saturday for a vehicle that may have fled the scene, but added that they believe there were multiple shooters in the incident.

The injured girl was transported to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, where she was reported in critical condition.

Two other people in the apartment were taken to Hartford Hospital, where one man died and another was in critical condition, police added.

A fourth gunshot victim was discovered in a crashed vehicle on a street a few blocks from the scene of the shooting.

Police encountered the car while responding to a 911 call they received shortly before 3:30 p.m., which they believe may have come from the apartment.

“We believe everything happened in the apartment. We believe it was sort of a mutual combatant-type situation,” said Hartford Police Lt. Aaron Boisvert.

Authorities said they were searching the apartment and interviewing witnesses in order to determine the circumstances that led to the gunfight.

“It’s a very chaotic scene,” said Boisvert. He also implied that there had been more than one shooter, adding “some of the shooters were shot as well.”

“This is a targeted incident,” he continued, saying that there were others in the apartment at the time of the gunfight who were not injured.
