Conn. seeks public's ideas on transportation woes

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Connecticut has established an online suggestion box to solicit opinions on how to solve the state's transportation problems.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said Tuesday that the Department of Transportation is seeking ideas from residents and businesses about highways, rails and buses.

The state agency also will schedule public meetings, focus groups and surveys to engage businesses, elected officials, transportation advocacy groups and others about transportation issues.

Members of the public may go to www.TransformCT.org to comment and share ideas on transportation issues. Among numerous suggestions suggested by the website, visitors are asked if more bicycle lanes, high-speed tolls for Interstates 84 and 95 or more north-south roads are needed.

Connecticut has long grappled with transportation problems only to be stymied over the billions of dollars needed to make necessary fixes.
