Conn. Light & Power readying for latest storm
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut's largest utility is preparing for another storm just nine days after Superstorm Sandy knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of customers.
A spokesman for Connecticut Light & Power said Wednesday that a nor'easter moving into Connecticut has forced the subsidiary of Northeast Utilities to send line workers and tree trimmers back to work, restock supplies and prepare staging areas for heavy equipment.
A spokesman for United Illuminating, the smaller of the state's two main utilities, did not immediately return a call seeking information about what the New Haven-based company may be doing to prepare.
The National Weather Service says the biggest of any impacts on Connecticut is likely to be from high winds.
The two utilities restored power to most customers only in the last few days.
