Congrats to the North Jersey student of the week winners for May 17

Every week during the school year, North Jersey school districts nominate outstanding students for recognition in The Record and on NorthJersey.com.

The poll opens Mondays at 5 a.m. and closes Thursdays at 5 p.m. On Fridays, we announce the top two vote-getters as students of the week, featuring their stories online and in print in The Record on Sundays and our weekly newspapers.

Here are our winners for this week.

Brielle Serodio, junior, North Arlington H.S.

Brielle won with the most votes; 7,582. She plays girls varsity soccer and is on the winter track team. She is a member of the SADD/interact club, the art club, the athletic council, is a freshman mentor, part of the Heroes and Cool Kids program, and is the Secretary of the 2025 Class Committee. She plans to major in psychology or biology.

Ayla Ceryansuyu, senior, Midland Park H.S.

Ayla came second with 2,300 votes. She is an all-around great student at Midland Park High School. Hard working and motivated, Ayla goes above and beyond in her roles within the Artists in Action Club and Art Honor Society. Ayla is known for her helpfulness and friendly demeanor and can always be counted on for any project. Ayla excels as an Advanced Placement student and as an artist.
