Confessed killer of women in Mexico City held for trial

MEXICO CITY (AP) — A Mexican man and his female companion have been ordered held in prison pending trial for the slaying of a woman, though the man has confessed to murdering at least nine more.

The couple was caught earlier this month carrying dismembered human remains in a baby carriage. Authorities say they may have sold the women's bones to a religious cult.

The prosecutors' office in Mexico State said Tuesday the couple will stand trial in the death of a 28-year-old woman who disappeared Sept. 6.

They also face charges of desecrating a corpse and illegal burial.

Local media also reported he fed some of his victim's flesh to his dogs, and may have offered their hearts to the "Santa Muerte," a female skeletal figure worshipped by criminals and drug traffickers.
