New concrete pour collab with Topeka disc golf club

Topeka (KSNT) — A local concrete company poured concrete to improve a disc golf course at a Topeka park.

On May 21, 2024, Hop-2-It Concrete and Remodeling began pouring concrete pads at Big Shunga Park’s disc golf course.

The concrete pour is part of a collaboration with the Dawn to Dusk Disc Golf club. The club works in partnership with Shawnee County Parks and Recreation, which is funding this project entirely independently.

The owner of Hop-2-It, AJ Hopper, has demonstrated his dedication to community service. Recognizing the project’s importance, he stepped in to reduce the cost of the concrete by half, a testament to his commitment to improving the community’s recreational spaces.

KSNT 27 News spoke with AJ Hopper, the owner of Hop-2-It. He says it’s important to him to give back to his community.

“It means the world to me to give back to my city,” Hopper said. “I’m from Topeka, Kansas. I grew up here and I just love it.  I mean, doing anything that people can have fun doing. I’m just grateful to be out here today and just get the opportunity and Hop 2 It Concrete … no job too big or too small.”

Despite the looming threat of storms, Hop-2-It demonstrated its commitment by working swiftly on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. In just one day, they poured 18 new pads.

The concrete needs time to cure. Hopper said the concrete should be set within 24 to 48 hours.
