Concerts Around Westwood & LA County: This Week In Music
WESTWOOD-CENTURY CITY, CA – There are a ton of great shows to catch this week in Los Angeles County, and we've gathered a list of live music from twenty of the county's top music venues for this week's round-up. From blues, to throwbacks, to indie rock, and electronic, there's something for everyone to see.
Patch caught up with Cole Rudy from Dragondeer, a psychedelic blues band whose debut album "If You Got The Blues" was released earlier this year. The band is performing alongside JJ Grey and Mofro at 8 p.m. Saturday, September 8 at the Teragram Ballroom.
Emily Holland: How would you describe your music in five words?
Cole Rudy: Incandescent Psychedelic Blues and Soul
EH: What inspires your music? Specifically "If You Got The Blues?"
CR: Relationships with ourselves and others born upon deeply moving experiences. The title track is about unconditional love.
EH: The blend of blues and psych rock is a combination I haven’t heard before – how did you develop your unique sound? (Any artists that influenced it?)
CR: Thank you! We all have a strong appetite for old blues and soul music, but so did the Grateful Dead, and it worked out for them.
EH: What’s the most difficult part of the music making process for you?
CR: The music’s easy and fun, getting laundry done takes planning and organization.
EH: Who has been your favorite artist to perform alongside?
CR: So many! Eddie Cotton, Jj Grey and Mofro, Jerry Joseph, Jarekus Singleton, and many more...
Dragondeer is performing alongside JJ Grey and Mofro at 8 p.m. Saturday, September 8 at the Teragram Ballroom.
