Conan O’Brien confronted by Palestinian activists during trip to Israel

Conan O’Brien aired another installment of Conan Without Borders, and this time the late night host visited Israel. Conan spent most of his time joking around with the Israeli people. He headed to the famous beaches of Tel Aviv, where he made an announcement from a lifeguard tower. Looking out over all the beachgoers, Conan said over the loudspeaker, “This is an important announcement. Will all Israeli men wearing speedos please leave the area!” Conan even met with one of the most famous Israelis, Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot. Although, she didn’t seem too thrilled to see Conan. The late night host showed up at Gadot’s door and she, jokingly, pretended to be too busy to hang with him. But that didn’t stop him from trying as he offered to make her pancakes, a delicious offer that Godot turned down. Although, it was difficult for Conan to ignore what many people in that region are dealing with on a daily basis. While visiting Golan Heights on the Syrian border, the late night host could hear gunfire off in the distance. Standing with an Israeli soldier, Conan said, “I've never heard an actual war before. That's pretty sobering.” Conan also headed into a Palestinian zone, where he was confronted by a group of Palestinian activists along the wall that separates them from Israel. One woman asked Conan if he thought the wall looked normal, to which he replied, “No, I don't think any wall like this is normal.” The woman then added, “It's an open-air prison at the end of the day. You don't create peace by segregating people.” It was a difficult region for him to visit, but even in a place where there is so much suffering, Conan was able to do what he does best -- make people laugh.
