Conan O’Brien asks Mexicans to donate money for Trump’s border wall

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has already said his nation won’t pay for U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed wall on the border of their two countries, but that didn’t stop Conan O’Brien from catching a flight and personally asking Mexicans to cover the structure’s expenses.

In “Conan Without Borders: Made In Mexico,” Conan’s next travel special airing March 1, the comedian steps out in Mexico City to raise money for “Conan’s Border Wall Pledge Drive.”

“El Presidente Trump wants to build a wall, and he would like Mexico to pay for it,” says O’Brien, holding up a donation box in the shape of a brick wall.

“Put your love ,” replies one woman, gesturing at the box, “and kindness.”

O’Brien amps up his selling strategy, offering personalized bricks (“You have to act now because there’s only going to be 800 million of these”), tote bags reading “I paid for the wall,” and supposed autographed photos of Trump in exchange for donations.

But none of that works, and one man goes so far as to give the box an upside-down middle finger. Watch a preview of O’Brien’s visit to Mexico City in the video above.

Conan airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET on TBS.
