Compass Minerals raises dividend 10 percent

Compass Minerals raises its quarterly dividend to 54.5 cents from 49.5 cents

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) -- Compass Minerals International Inc. said Monday that it is raising its quarterly dividend by 10 percent to 54.5 cents from 49.5 cents.

Compass produces minerals, including salt, magnesium chloride and specialty fertilizers. It provides deicing salt to customers in North America and the United Kingdom.

Its next dividend is payable March 15 to shareholders of record on March 1.

The company said results from its salt and specialty fertilizer business have remained strong despite mild winter weather. That mild weather has hurt sales of its deicing products.

Its shares slipped 3 cents to $74.32 in midday trading.
