Here are the companies hiring right now
The job market is starting to rebound toward its pre-pandemic levels, giving job seekers more options for employment.
“The outlook for hiring is really strong given that employers are trying to recoup the employment loss that they've seen over the past 13 to 14 months,” Nick Bunker, an economist at Indeed, told Yahoo Money. “It does look like there's a lot of appetite to add new workers right now.”
Over 20 million jobs were lost at the pandemic’s onset, but as of May 14, Indeed’s job postings were roughly 26% above February 1, 2020 levels. Job openings reached a March record of 8.1 million, the highest since recording began in December 2000, according to the BLS. But there’s still 8.2 million fewer jobs than before the pandemic.
“We were in a tremendous hole but we've been recovering since then,” Bunker said, calling the future “very promising” considering the rate of recovery thus far. “We are still quite a ways from pre-pandemic levels, but it looks like there's lots of potential for really strong growth and getting back to that level relatively quickly.”
Certain sectors or job categories are rebounding faster than others with jobs “related to either producing goods or moving goods to people” being “relatively strong throughout,” Bunker said.
