According to a release, The Dollar General Literacy Foundation awarded the grant to Como-Pickton CISD to replace books that have been damaged, as a part of their initiative to support literacy and education.
“The Dollar General Literacy Foundation is proud to help Como-Pickton Elementary School rebuild its library following the devastating impact of a tornado,” said Denine Torr, Dollar General’s vice president of corporate social responsibility and philanthropy and executive director of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. “School libraries play an important role in providing access to information, nurturing the imagination, and helping advance learning. These funds will help the school invest in new print and technology-based resources for the students in the Como-Pickton community.”
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation makes donations each year to schools and non-profits that are within a 15-mile radius from a Dollar General store in support of education and literacy.
