Community weighs in on the future of parks in Zephyrhills

ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. (WFLA) — City leaders in Zephyrhills are considering the future of their parks.

Officials with the Parks and Recreation Department are asking community members what they would like to see in the next 20 years. The city is constructing Hercules Park, its first park in 40 years.

It is also developing the master plan for new additions to the area’s eight other parks. Thursday night, project leaders are requesting community feedback about the programs and resources needed in the future.

“Not just recreational but also educational and entertainment,” explains Gail Hamilton, with the Parks and Recreation Department, “It’s all about what will get you to engage in the park. What would you like to see and how would you use it.”

Families in the area can weigh in on plans at Zephyrhills City Hall on Thursday night from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Residents can also submit comments online.
