Community walk held to stop gun violence in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A community walk to stop gun violence in the City of Suffolk is scheduled for Tuesday night.

The local youth community group Project Power is hosting the walk, followed by a memorial for recent victims of gun violence in the city.

The walk is set to start at 5 p.m. behind the Mills Godwin Courthouse downtown and end at 6 p.m. inside Lokee Restaurant. Those who wish to participate in the walk are encouraged to create signage.

Police investigating double shooting in Suffolk early Tuesday morning

The memorial will include artwork of those lost due to gun violence, spoken word poetry and motivational speeches by special guests. An open mic opportunity will also be available for sign-up.
