Community radio station in Hot Springs Village helping residents after EF-2 tornado

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. – A community radio station in Hot Springs Village is stepping up to keep people informed and safe after Thursday night’s tornado.

National Weather Service confirms EF-2 tornado in Hot Springs Village

KVRE located inside the gates of The Village opened their phone lines on Friday to give the community live updates on the EF-2 tornado aftermath.

The station accepted calls from resident as well as city officials to give updates on road conditions and reactions.

Hot Springs Village home destroyed by EF-2 tornado

Alice Bates, the General Manager of the family-run station, said the staff began giving updates to the public since the storm hit.

“This is what we do,” Bates said. “This is the business we’re in and this is what we’re supposed to do, is to serve the public.”

The cleanup process in Hot Springs Village continues and as of Saturday morning, 1,400 residents are still without power in Garland County.
