Community Action Agency to host 59th annual dinner, honor community members

Apr. 22—DANVILLE — East Central Illinois Community Action Agency will host its 59th Annual Business Meeting and Fundraising Dinner on Friday, April 26.

The dinner will be at the New Life Banquet Center, 1419 N. Bowman Ave., Danville.

The reception and silent auction begin at 6 p.m. The dinner and program will follow at 7 p.m.

The theme for this year's Annual Dinner is "Progressive Empowerment." In addition to the silent auction, Pianist Leonard Bryant, III will provide the musical entertainment for the evening.

President and CEO of Illinois Association of Community Action Agencies Roger Pavey will deliver the keynote address. Roger began his Community Action career in 1998 at East Central Illinois Community Action Agency. After 20 years as CEO of Community Action of Eastern Iowa, Roger returns to Illinois and is excited to be working with IACAA's member agencies and partners to further the promise of community action in changing people's lives and improving communities.

A silent auction will be during the event. All proceeds from the annual dinner and the silent auction will directly benefit and strengthen specific Community Action initiatives.

Local community leaders will be honored at the Annual Dinner in recognition of their noteworthy strides in economic development and empowerment. This year's Community Action Service Award recipients are: Marcia Keys, CEO Over the Rainbow Ministries; Tamera Forthenberry, resident services coordinator with Vermilion Housing Authority; Frankie Wright, CEO Wright's Heating & Air; Brian Moreman, CEO Moreman Home Improvement; Suskin Lockett, Jr., CEO Reasonable Heating-Cooling & Insulation; and Ryan Taylor, CEO Taylor Heating & Air.

This event is open to the public. Tickets are available at $50 per person or $400 to purchase a table. Cash, check and credit/debit cards are accepted.
