Commissioners review new REAP project bids

Mar. 19—During Monday's Woodward County Commission meeting, sealed bids were opened for the Woodward County Courthouse Roof Replacement.

Bids for the roof replacement were sent in by Next Level Roofing ($198,300), Anytime Roofing($ 273,000), and Coryell Roofing & Construction LLC($300,528.90). With Commissioner Donny Thorn absent, Commissioners Clint White and Troy White motioned to table the bids to be reviewed by an architect.

Commissioners also approved the transfer of funds out of Woodward Fire Maintenance and Operations into District 3 Maintenance and Operations, for fuel reimbursement. This transfer was two separate items on the agenda, one being $756.31, the other being $177.35.

Also on the agenda, was the allocation of alcoholic beverage tax certified thru March 12, $19,579.70. The item was approved.

The Local Assistance & Tribal consistency Fund 2023 annual report was also reviewed. The fund is a result of the American Rescue Plan Act.

"This is a report I had to prepare for submission, it's due at the end of this month," said Commissioner C. White.

White further explained that the County has received two $50,000 payments, that he's labeled as "general government operations".

According to White, the payments are obligated for 2024 and must be spent by 2026. The funds can be spent on any general government operations. At present the funds are in a CD earning interest.

The Slattery Construction cost estimate for the Mooreland Fire Department Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) grant was also approved. The Town of Mooreland and Slattery Construction had already gone through bidding procedures, but needed County approval, due to the county sponsoring the REAP grant. Funds will be used to improve or repair the Mooreland Fire Department.

A Memorandum of Understanding ,between the County Commissioners and Western Plains Youth & Family Services, on the delivery of Opioid abuse prevention to eighth grade classes was approved as well. The group will provide drug intervention classes in Woodward County schools.

Last on the agenda was the appointment of requisition officers: Christopher Boring, Stephanie Fuqua, Megan Martin, receiving agents, Courtney Carney, Brandi Taylor, Whittney Case and Chelsea Cloutier, for the District Attorney office and bogus check division.
