On March 9, 1989, a young man was shot twice in the head in the middle of 16th Avenue South, one of the most famous streets in Nashville.

In a nearly two-year investigation, Tennessean reporter Keith Sharon found never-before-published facts about the case. He interviewed a one-time suspect who believes the police owe him an apology, a detective who will never give him one, music promoters who feared for their lives and a singer whose lousy voice helped solve the case.
