We hear about bank robberies occurring all the time in this country, but never about banks being robbed by little kids.

Enter the “Little Rascals,” a trio of boys who were all arrested for robbing a local Wells Fargo bank in Houston, Texas. Each one of them has been charged with robbery by threat, a second-degree felony, according to FBI Houston.

The age of these juveniles may be the most shocking as they are 11, 12, and 16 years old respectively.

The trio allegedly robbed the Houston-area bank on March 14. They walked right into the bank and passed a threatening note to one of the bank tellers. Although it was unclear if the “rascals” were armed, it’s suspected that they were. The crew then walked away with an unknown amount of money.

According to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, two boys’ parents came forward to law enforcement after security footage was released to the public. Police discovered the other after he was recognized as the culprit after being involved in a fight.

More from ABC13 Houston:

“The age of the younger two, that’s unusual for a bank robbery,” Mike Schneider, a retired juvenile district court judge, told ABC13. “It’s one of the first times I’ve seen that…”

“I was thinking either this was very low in sophistication or maybe an adult had something to do with this. That is not uncommon. Because kids have a punishment that is less severe, it is not uncommon for adult offenders to get them to commit crimes,” Schneider said.

If the trio is found guilty, they could go to juvenile prison until they are 19 or face probation until they are 18. The 16-year-old could be tried as an adult.
