Columbus Police: Three men arrested from local hotel, stolen handgun recovered

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Three men were taken into custody by the Columbus Police Department on Monday afternoon.

Police say Demetreus Heard, Jamaal Scott and William brown are facing multiple charges after police arrested them from a room at Budgetel Inn and Suites.

A search of the hotel room yielded two Glock handguns and 26.8 grams of marijuana, according to the Columbus Police Department. One of those handguns had been reported stolen and also had a switch used to make it function as a machine gun.

The three men are facing these charges:

  • Heard – Criminal Damage to Property, 2nd warrant, Battery Family Violence warrant, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of a Machine gun

  • Scott – Violation of Probation, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of a Machine gun

  • Brown – Possession of Marijuana with Intent to distribute, Possession of Drug Related Objects, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of a Machine gun
