Columbus non-profit hosts annual celebratory breakfast

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley hosted its annual Breakfast of Champions event on Thursday at the Bibb Mill Event Center.

This event honors the volunteers and partners who play a crucial role in advancing the organization’s mission of reducing poverty. It highlights the achievements made possible through collaborative efforts, including the impact of the organization’s fundraising initiatives during the 2023 campaign year.

A buffet-style breakfast was served to the attendees who showed support for the organization. During breakfast, members of the community were presented with awards to honor their contribution to United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley.

WRBL had the chance to speak with the recipient of the “Coordinator of the Year Award,” Kimberly Wright. She sits as the Director of Communication for Muscogee County School District.

“I’ve been dealing with United Way for many years now,” said Wright. “But Muscogee County, it’s a little bit more special. It’s not about the award for us. It’s about giving back. It’s my honor to be the coordinator of the year.”

After the awards, members of the community were served pancakes to reveal the total donations made to United Way for the year of 2023. The fundraising goal that year was $9 million, however the organization exceeded that goal. It looks forward to achieving the same result in the upcoming year.
