Columbus Division of Fire recruit class graduates

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – The City of Columbus just received a new generation of life-savers.

The 118th recruit class of the division of fire graduated today. They underwent 32 weeks of intense physical training and classroom instruction under the watchful eyes of Columbus fire veterans.

They’ll now join the division’s 15,000 uniformed firefighters and they’ll be assigned to one of the city’s 34 fire stations.

Today, their leaders gave them an inspiring message — this is only the beginning!

“You must build on the foundation you were given. In Columbus fire, we pride ourselves on continuing to learn. Make it a point to practice your profession everyday you work,” said Columbus fire Assistant Chief Christopher Blair.

The 118th recruit class is made up of 31 men and six women. These graduates will begin protecting the people of Columbus immediately.
