Clippers home opener postponed; Crew start time delayed

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The threat of severe weather in Columbus on Tuesday night has caused delays for schools and businesses. It has now affected the sports world.

The Columbus Clippers’ home opener against the Omaha Storm Chasers at Huntington Park has been postponed. The team announced the game will not be played today and will be made up as a part of a doubleheader on Thursday with a 4:15 p.m. first pitch time.

Tuesday’s game was originally scheduled for 6:15 p.m. The team’s home opener will now be on Wednesday at 6:15 p.m.

Across the street in the Arena District at Lower.com Field, the Crew’s match against UANL Tigres in the Champions Cup quarterfinals was delayed until 8:30 p.m. The original kickoff was 7 p.m., with CONCACAF officials saying they will continue to monitor weather conditions.
