Colorado State places head coach Larry Eustachy on administrative leave
Larry Eustachy’s 2017-18 season has been disheartening by all accounts. For the first time in six years at the university, he’s on pace to finish the season with a sub-.500 record. Earlier this week, athletic director Joe Parker announced the launch of a climate assessment, consisting of conversations with students and staff members associated with the men’s basketball program.
On Saturday, Eustachy’s season took another turn for the worse when Parker opted to place him on administrative leave for the remainder of the season in a statement issued on Saturday afternoon.

“I have asked head coach Larry Eustachy to temporarily step away from the men’s basketball program, as he has been placed on administrative leave while we conclude our climate assessment,” Parker said. “We are diligently working through this assessment as expeditiously as possible, understanding the importance of a thorough and fair process. No conclusions have been made.”
The investigation marks the second time Eustachy’s behavior been under review by the Colorado State athletic department. Previous athletic director Jack Graham initiated an internal investigation into Eustachy during the 2013-14 campaign that resulted in the head coach admitting that he may have gone “way over the line.”
Nearly 15 years ago, Eustachy resigned as the head coach Iowa State’s men’s basketball program after photos emerged of him making out with University of Missouri coeds. Eustachy returned a year later to coach at Southern Miss, but since then has openly addressed his battle with alcoholism. Colorado State is 10-14 heading into their conference matchup against Nevada.
