Colorado Springs launches website showing impact of 2C

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The City of Colorado Springs has launched a new website to show the impact 2C road improvements have had on the city.

The website contains a link to a story map and an interactive map of roads in Colorado Springs that have been paved since 2021 and are scheduled to be paved until 2027.

The City said the story map will feature graphics about how much money 2C saves through preventative maintenance, detailed before and after photos of 2C projects, and the impact 2C makes on pothole reduction.

“2C has truly been a game-changer for our community,” Mayor Yemi Mobolade said at his monthly press briefing on Thursday, March 21, where the website and story map were unveiled. “I’m asking for the community’s support to continue this work for smoother roads ahead. It is an investment in our city and our community.”

The current 2C program is set to end in 2025, however, the City said Mayor Mobolade indicated his desire to include a renewal for the initiative on the November 2024 General Election ballot. 2C is currently a sales tax of .57% or 5.7 pennies on a $10 purchase, and funds road maintenance efforts throughout Colorado Springs.
