These Colorado counties received 9 inches of snow

DENVER (KDVR) — While the Denver metro will only see a light amount of snow on Friday, that doesn’t mean other parts of the state aren’t seeing several inches of accumulation.

Friday is a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day as another round of moisture moves into the state ahead of the weekend.

Snow, rain and sleet began to fall over the Eastern Plains on Thursday morning where winter storm warnings were in effect.

This storm system isn’t bringing large amounts of snow to every corner of the state, but one corner is seeing nearly a foot of snow already.

Preliminary snow totals as of 7:30 a.m. on Friday show that parts of Yuma and Logan County have already received 9 inches of snow. One part of Yuma County has received 11.5 inches.

These numbers are between midnight on Thursday through 7:30 a.m. on Friday

Both Yuma and Logan County are in the northeast corner of the state, bordering Nebraska and Kansas.

While the National Weather Service advisories expired on Friday, the Colorado Department of Transportation is still reminding travelers to take it slow as the roads on U.S. 34 and Interstate 76 could be snowpacked and icy.

According to the Pinpoint Weather team, the snow will taper off by midday on Friday. The weekend is looking much better with sunny skies and comfortable highs in the 50s and even 60s.
