DENVER (KDVR) — The Colorado Capitol building was on a brief lockdown Friday afternoon due to an armed suspect outside, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

An armed suspect was somewhere in the area outside the building, according to the agency.

Very few details were available Friday afternoon, but Rep. Elisabeth Epps reported the lockdown on X, formerly Twitter.

“We are on lockdown but we are ok,” she posted at about 3:47 p.m. “alarm. doors lock. lights dim. locked in…ducks. some folks got emergency alerts direct to their phones. others did not. chair, not missing a beat: ‘To the bill!'”

Epps said debate had resumed on the current bill.

As of 4:12, the Patrol said the lockdown had been lifted but no suspect was in custody.
