Colonel Fest Race Committee presents White Flag Ministries with check

May 15—CORBIN — Following the success of the annual Colonel Fest 10K, the Colonel Fest Race Committee presented White Flag Ministries of Corbin with a check for $5,000.

Presenting the check last Wednesday was former Corbin Tourism Director and now Manager of Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, Maggy Monhollen.

To accept the check for White Flag Ministries, First Baptist Senior Pastor Alex Lockridge and Associate Pastor of Spiritual Formation Jeremiah Banks were present.

Both Lockridge and Banks were surprised at the amount of the check, noting their immense gratitude for the generosity of the race committee.

Monhollen was also proud to present the check, which denoted the last time that she would be doing so.

"Every year we choose an organization to donate this money to, and this year we are happy to donate to White Flag Ministries of Corbin," she said. "After discussing it with the committee, we have left a small nest egg to do the race again for whoever succeeds me. If they choose to continue the race that would be great, and if they do not, then that money will be donated to a charitable organization."

White Flag Ministries is active in the Corbin community, providing various services such as a food pantry and providing aid to the homeless during the winter season.
