Collier sheriff: Naples man faces 50 child pornography possession counts after cyber tip

A Naples man faces more than four dozen child pornography following a probe that began with a cyber tip.

Luis Alberto Rendon, 47, was charged with 50 counts of possession of child pornography after a search warrant was executed at his residence, the Collier County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday.

Following a Dec. 6, 2023, tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, he was arrested Tuesday.

According to his arrest affidavit, Dropbox reported the upload of the child sexual abuse material.

Authorities determined the activity was happening from a home on 100th Avenue North. Two relatives, who were present at the home when authorities served the warrant Tuesday, said only Rendon uses the office at the residence and they don't use his computer or devices at the location, according to the report.

According to the sheriff's office, both said they don't know the passwords to the devices.

The investigation was conducted by CCSO detectives with the Southwest Florida INTERCEPT Task Force. INTERCEPT stands for Inter-agency Child Exploitation and Persons Trafficking. The task force is a public-private partnership dedicated to combatting trafficking and exploitation throughout Southwest Florida.

The task force, which encompasses Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Glades and Hendry counties, was announced in September 2023.

Rendon is next due in court May 28 for his arraignment.
