Colin Kaepernick Gets Thumbs-Up From Charlie Sheen (Video)

Don’t worry, Colin Kaepernick; Charlie Sheen has your back.

The San Francisco 49ers quarterback who drew widespread wrath over the weekend after refusing to stand during the national anthem at a preseason game, has received the endorsement of former “Two and a Half Men” star Sheen.

Approached by TMZ over the weekend, Sheen threw his support behind Kaepernick.

“I get both sides of it,” the actor said, when asked about the controversy surrounding the QB.

Asked point-blank whether he supported the athlete’s decision, Sheen was more effusive, declaring, “F— yeah.”

Kaepernick said that he chose not to stand, because he didn’t wish to “show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people,”

“To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way,” Kaepernick told NFL Media about his decision not to stand during the anthem at a Friday tilt against the Green Bay Packers. “There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

The 49ers stood by Kaepernick’s right not to stand in a statement, saying, “The national anthem is and always will be a special part of the pre-game ceremony. It is an opportunity to honor our country and reflect on the great liberties we are afforded as its citizens. In respecting such American principles as freedom of religion and freedom of expression, we recognize the right of an individual to choose and participate, or not, in our celebration of the national anthem.”
