Colin Kaepernick Didn’t Stand During The Nation Anthem, So One Fan Burned His Jersey

If you're into burning your own money....

San Francisco 49er Colin Kaepernick’s actions have divided the Internet, as well as many in the country. The 28-year-old NFL star refused to stand during the National Anthem Saturday (August 27) due to the ongoing civil unrest between law enforcement and people of color. His controversial political move caused many to either applaud his actions or regard them as disrespectful.

However, one 49er fan took his rage against Kaepernick to a new level when he decided to burn the quarterback’s jersey.

Kaepernick spoke with the media about his decision to not stand during the Star Spangled Banner.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Kaepernick told NFL Media in an exclusive interview after the game. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

And while Kaepernick became the target of Twitter’s robust racist comments, many also defended him and his actions, drawing a comparison to the late Muhammad Ali who throughout his career also took many political stances.
