Student with Airsoft gun blamed for Coker University lockdown, police say

HARTSVILLE, S.C. (WBTW) — Coker University was placed on a lock down over night after student was seen with an Airsoft gun, a Hartsville police spokeswoman told News13 on Monday.

The all clear was given at 12:30 a.m. on Monday, according to a post on Coker’s Facebook page.

“The campus lockdown, initiated earlier in response to a security concern, has been lifted, and normal campus operations will resume, Coker University said in a statement.

Following thorough investigations by the Hartsville Police Department in collaboration with campus security, it has been determined that there is no ongoing threat to the safety of the campus community. As such, the lockdown protocols have been lifted, and all campus buildings and facilities are now accessible to students, faculty, and staff.”
