The Texas Rangers continue to be hard hit by the injury bug at the start of the 2024 MLB season.

The Rangers started the season with injuries to starting pitchers Max Scherzer, Tyler Mahle and Jacob deGrom but several new players have joined the trio on the injury list since the season began.

On April 8, Josh Jung was placed on the 60-day IL after being hit by a pitch in a game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Justin Foscue, the Rangers’ No. 5 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, was called up after Jung was injured but suffered a left oblique strain that caused him to join Jung on the 60-day IL effective April 13.

Nathaniel Lowe was injured before the onset of the season with a moderate strain of his Oblique that has kept him out of action since early March. However, the first baseman has played three games with the Frisco RoughRiders and seems to be ramping up for his return.

On the pitching side, reliever Josh Sborz was put on the 15-day IL on April 7 due to a right rotator cuff strain. Brock Burke joined Sborz on the injured list after a rough outing against the Houston Astros on Friday causing the reliever to punch a wall, fracturing his hand, and landing him on the 15-day IL.

Cody Bradford had gotten off to a great start for the Rangers going 3-0 with a 1.40 ERA but complained of lower back soreness after his last start against the Oakland Athletics and found himself on the 15-day IL.

Despite the litany of injuries the Rangers are 8-8 to start the year, lead the American League West and are the only team in the division with a record above .500.

The Rangers do have positive injury news, pitcher Micahel Lorenzen is being activated off the 15-day IL and is set to make his Rangers debut at 5:40 p.m. on Monday against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park.
