‘Code Black’ Season 2 Canceled Before Finale?

“Code Black” Season 2 will air its finale episode on Wednesday, Feb. 8, but the fate of Season 3 has not yet been sealed.

According to TV Line, the renewal for the CBS medical drama could go either way. Last year, the network also renewed “Code Black” much later compared to its other TV shows. A major cast shakeup also took place with the axing of Raza Jaffrey and Bonnie Somerville. New cast members were introduced in Season 2, and some guest stars were upped to series regular status. By the looks of it, Season 3 could be a go because in the finale episode for Season 2, a group of new interns will be introduced.

Also in the episode, titled “Fallen Angels,” the doctors at Angels Memorial will risk their lives when they decide to team up with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention to find an antidote to a deadly viral outbreak at the hospital. Dr. Leanne Rorish (Marcia Gay Harden) would also have to make a tough decision that could risk her life.

In an interview with TV Line, Harden said that the final two episodes of “Code Black” Season 2 will be very impactful. “The last two episodes are amazing. It’s a two-parter where we’re combatting a viral disease, and we have to go out into the city to figure out where it’s coming from, and Leanne is compromised, in many, many ways,” she said. Harden’s statement has left fans to speculate on the possibility of Dr. Leanne getting killed off. However, it’s seems impossible that one of the lead characters in the CBS TV series will be killed in the finale.

“Code Black” Season 2 airs at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.
