LOUISVILLE, KY--(Marketwire - Mar 20, 2013) - The Mid-America Trucking Show -- Cobra Electronics Corporation (
Throughout the show, Cobra will highlight its 8000 Pro HD and 6000 Pro HD GPS navigation units. These state-of-the-art systems have been designed from the ground up specifically to meet the demands of today's professional driver. The units include free live and predictive traffic information to help drivers avoid costly traffic delays, as well as free lifetime map updates and lifetime access to the AURA™ database of speed/red-light camera locations, dangerous intersections and known speed trap locations. Both are packed with additional productivity-enhancing features including a high-definition touch screen, truck-optimized route guidance, and trucker-friendly points-of-interest provided by TruckDown™. The 8000 Pro HD sports a 7-inch HD LCD screen while the 6000 Pro HD features a 5-inch screen.
At the show, Cobra will introduce its new free docking software called Cobra HomeBase™, which allows drivers to download the latest map/AURA Driving Hazards Database and software updates for the Cobra Professional Navigation Systems. The HomeBase also allows drivers to back up the personal data on their Cobra navigation device, including address book information and state mileage logs. Upon first connection, the HomeBase will not only allow drivers to register their Cobra navigation device and download updates, but will also allow them to provide feedback through the "Tell Cobra" feature. Driver feedback will be reviewed by Cobra engineers and incorporated into the company's continuous improvement process for potential future product enhancements. The HomeBase system is compatible with both Windows and Mac computers.
Cobra will also demonstrate several products designed to help drivers abide by hands-free legislation, including the industry's most advanced CB radio, the 29 LX BT, plus Cobra's new All-In-One Wireless CB Headset (Model CA BTCB4). The 29LX BT CB radio leverages Bluetooth® technology allowing truckers to connect their CB radio to their mobile phone. With the 29 LX BT, drivers can make and receive cell phone calls through the radio without ever touching their phone. Other hands-free compliant features include voice announcement of incoming callers, Caller ID display on the unit, text-to-speech conversion for listening to incoming email messages and responding to emails by simply talking. Cobra's CA BTCB4 Wireless Headset consists of a lightweight and ergonomic Bluetooth and RF-capable headset (compatible with virtually any Bluetooth-enabled cell phone) featuring a state-of-the-art boom mike with integrated noise canceling technology and a heavy-duty push-to-talk (PTT) button which keys the CB microphone. The Bluetooth headset supports hands-free cell phone usage for both in-bound and out-bound one-touch calling, and can be paired to virtually any Bluetooth-enabled cell phone. The Cobra CA BTCB4 is compatible with all 4-pin CB radios.
