The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for the Coachella Valley through 5 a.m. Tuesday.

The western winds are expected to blow between 15 and 25 mph with gusts of up to 45 mph in areas such as Indio, Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Palm Desert, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Coachella, Borrego Springs and Idyllwild-Pine Cove.

"Gusty winds can blow around unsecured objects (and) tree limbs could be blown down," the weather service advisory said, recommending securing outdoor objects and using caution when driving, as dust and sand can limit visibility.
