CO-10 closure in Walsenburg for safety-critical work

(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — Colorado Highway 10 will close under Interstate 25 in Walsenburg for safety-critical work on Wednesday, May 29.

Starting at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close both directions of Colorado Highway 10 under I-25 in Walsenburg while crews perform a safety-critical bridge deck pour on a portion of the new southbound I-25 bridge structure.

Detour routes will go through Main Street for both west- and eastbound CO-10. Construction will subside at approximately 7 a.m. on Friday, May 31. Reopening time is subject to change, depending on concrete cure times.

Motorists can expect traffic as the detour routes will add five miles and 10 minutes extra to drive time.

The project limits on CO 10 are at the junction of CO 10/US 160 and extend from Mile Point 0 near County Road 114 to MP .25.

Signs, barriers, and construction devices will be present to alert motorists to the closure and detour routes. As always, motorists are advised to ‘Slow For The Cone Zone’ and gather information about travel impacts, weather forecasts, and road conditions.
