CMT Awards 2019: Red carpet fashion is sequins, rhinestones and more sequins

The CMT Awards are traditionally the least formal of the country music awards, but that didn't stop today's female vocal powerhouses from breaking out some old friends of the genre: sequins and rhinestones.

Brandi Carlile and Tanya Tucker hit the carpet in coordinating grayscale jackets ahead of their performance on the show with Shooter Jennings.

Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town opted for a short black dress with a power shoulder detail.

Who else was shining?

Maren Morris in a white frock featuring shiny embroidery and cutouts. Kelsea Ballerini in floor-length light pink sparkles. Lindsey Ell in a purple sequin crop top and bell bottoms. Carly Pearce in a dark kaleidoscope of sequins. Danielle Bradbery in metallic fringe. Lauren Alaina in color-blocked sequins.

Many of the men on the carpet opted for a more casual look, with a handful opting to use their outfits to share a message. "Support Female Artists" was scrawled across Bobby Bones' white T-shirt, which he wore under suspenders.

Eric Decker took him to heart, wearing a shirt emblazoned with the face of his wife, Jessie James Decker.

A few gave cross-genre shout-outs. Jimmie Allen walked with his mother and wore a Biggie Smalls T-shirt. Chris Lucas of LoCash went with a Kanye West T-shirt.
