CMS teacher charged with indecent liberties with a student: CMPD

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools teacher has been arrested after an inappropriate relationship with a teenage student, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

On Tuesday, March 12, officers responded to Harding University High School about the inappropriate relationship between a 17-year-old male student and a teacher.

The victim voluntarily talked to detectives who got an arrest warrant for the teacher after the interview.

Jasmine Wooten, 24, was arrested on Wednesday at the high school. She was taken to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with taking indecent liberties with a student.

Records show she was released less than one hour after being booked by posting a $50,000 unsecured bond.

CMS says Wooten was employed as a social studies teacher starting in August of 2022. Documents show she was suspended with pay on March 13.
