The franchise's operator, Eric Johnson, arrived with his wife, Debbie, whom Johnson introduced as "Shorty," and a bevy of grandsons.

Commissioners Alan Reisman and Allyson Berry showed support along with City Manager Al Minner.

The restaurant's new boss encouraged everyone in attendance to download the app and that there will be a "high convenience factor" for people who order online.

The restrooms were sleek with contemporary white porcelain flat sinks and fresh flowers.

"We will serve all people with honor, dignity and respect in a humble, teachable manner ... we are better together," Johnson told the crowd, echoing Chick-fil-A's mission statement.
