Clubs Ban iPhone Photos Because They Don’t Care About Your Personal Brand

If you go out for a night with your girls but don't take any selfies, did you actually go out at all? That's the problem posed for some New York partiers who are feeling less than turnt by several clubs' rules banning cell phone photography and potentially threatening the "going out selfie" to extinction.
The ban is in effect at clubs we'd avoid anyway, like Output in Williamsburg and Le Baron in Chinatown, reports New York Times. The rule is supposed to help raging clubbers focus on the music and feel less unsettled that their photos might appear on revenge websites or social media.
"Internet shaming can make a clubber anxious about overtly groping someone or a key bump," the paper helpfully notes adding these rules have been prevalent overseas for some time.
But for Amy Sacco, who banned cameras years ago at her celebrity-laden Bungalow 8, sharing pictures online just makes you look gauche, bb:
“If it’s everywhere, it’s not a cool party,” Ms. Sacco said. She conceded that the rule was a nightmare to police in a “negative social media culture where everyone is looking for the worst photo.”
